Hank

Everyone should have a big yellow dog like this one:

After Hank's photo shoot, I finished a purse for a friend and did even more sewing for the craft show.

We saw the Hackensaw Boys last night at a local bar (smoke-free, thankfully). Excellent show- check them out if they are in your area.

I'm Getting There

I've made some progress on my craft show goodies, but I still feel like I have a ton to do. Here's some of what I've got so far:

Cafe Apron with Patchwork Pocket

Bibs

Kitchen Towels with Patchwork

And more....

I also just got Stampin' Up's Fall and Winter Catalog. I can't wait to start looking through that and picking out some new stuff. As if I need more stamps....

Back to the sewing machine. You can see more pictures on my Flickr site.

Cafe Aprons and Pregnant Bellies

Cafe Apron with cute mitt pocket:

Yesterday I sewed this simple cafe apron using Lotta Jansdotter's book. It just wasn't working with my large pregnant belly. (I am wearing shorts in this picture, by the way.) Before R left for work this morning, I got him to model it for me:

It looks much better on him! I love that pocket, but it took forever to clip the edges to get it to lie flat for sewing. (Look at our yard! Those bare patches are left over from last summer's flood.) I am thinking of making more of these with patchwork pockets centered in the front for my craft show and shop. What do you think?

I also finished a special order of bibs for twin girls:

I've never had anyone actually order something from me before, so I hope she likes them!

I Won!

I've been reading a little blog called Sew, Mama, Sew! lately, and they have a contest called Free Pattern Friday. I decided to leave a comment and try my luck, and I won! I will be getting my very first Amy Butler bag pattern (this one), and I can't wait to get it and make this bag. Of course, I will have to get some Amy Butler fabric to go with it...

We spent the day running errands, but my favorite stop was at a little locally owned fabric store where I stocked up one some new fabric for my craft show projects. This will be a busy week!

Anchors Aweigh

My mom and I spent the past two days in the Chicago area for my brother Curt's graduation from Navy boot camp. We met his fiancee, Jamie, there, and also got to see a good friend of mine. After not seeing each other for two months, I don't think I've ever seen two people happier to see each other than those two. Curt only had "liberty" for a few hours (and then had to return to the base), so we caught up and he entertained us with stories from boot camp. His next step is linguistics school in Monterey, California. Way to go, Curt!

And, in completely unrelated news, I am going to be participating in my very first craft show! It is at the Coleman Chapel (just up the road from where we live) and will be pretty small and low-key... the perfect place for starting out. It is less than a month away, so I must get busy. I also got an order for two bibs and for a purse! I think I will be spending most of today at my sewing machine.

New Baby!

No, not mine, but a good friend had a little girl recently, and since I'm pretty sure no one reads my blog yet, I can post what I sewed for her.
In case you can't tell, they are two burp cloths and a changing pad for the diaper bag. The changing pad actually started out as a burp cloth, but when I realized that it was way too big I just changed its purpose.

And just for fun, here's a picture of my assistant keeping me company in my sewing/laundry room:

Getting Started

I've been reading crafting and sewing blogs for a couple weeks now, and I just set up my own Etsy shop. I figured it was time for me to have a blog of my very own, so here goes.

I made my very first Etsy sale yesterday to a friend of my husband's. He bought the tropical fruit bib on the left. Thanks, George!
